Hi, everyone! I guess I'm the 1st to submit my double page LO entry for SST Scrap Challenge #1 I created my double page LO with more than 50 words jouranling - utilizing 3 Birds.com pattern papers, pink heart doilies from my friend in the USA (Cheryl Nyboer), colorful chipboards from 3 Birds.com, foam alphabets from All About Scrapbooking (Filstar Distributor Corp.), journaling cards from Webster pages, washi tapes, UK pop tapes, assorted buttons, string of pearls and a play of mixed media on opposing sides of my LO with DIY stencils and stencils from Maya Road. Trying to figure out how to make the photo attached here appear bigger and not the photo appearing on my blog to be that bid. . . . I think I got it now. =) Post on my blog: creobyladykatutz.blogspot.com/2014/02/supreme-scrap-tournament-2014-challenge.html

My layout More Pictures and information - on my blog: poczekalniaaka.blogspot.com/2014/02/1000-steps.htmlOn my pictures I have trees, near to my home. Sometimes, I cannot see the town, because of the fog, but always I can see trees. And birds, which are living or just resting on them. On my scrap I also put few words from legend about creation of Gniezno - my hometown. First written mentions about Gniezno are from about year 1000 (it was on the coin), so this number is also important on the layout from this point.

I started out with 2 pieces of water color paper. I added yellow and orange water color using a water color brush with fun and wide strokes. Next up, I used a mixture of gel medium, glass bead gel and rust acrylic paint to create a brick texture and painted that over a mask. Set to dry. Using a loaded paint brush with watercolors, I flicked that on the paper, creating the effect of water droplets. I positioned the pictures over the papers, to assign position. I trimmed green paper to border the pictures, and glued them down. I layered webster's papers die cuts around the pictures. Put trims. And stamped around the lay out using brown memento ink. I painted over the tree chipboard using acrylic paints, and glued that down. I also used wooden chipboard to make the tites love and live. I got a tag and attached twine to it. And positioned it beneath the first picture for some hidden journalling: " I live in a paradise called the Philippines. We have wide and open roads, shady trees. Flowering plants all year through. Even our lamp posts are pretty. This is paradise within 1000 steps from home." More details on my blog: bessiebrideloves.blogspot.com/2014/02/along-with-some-friends-i-have-joined.htmlAttachments:

This is my first 2 page layout, hope you all like it.... I created my background first using stencils and mediums. No misting was a challenge for me.... to make the mediums pop out I rubbed distress ink over it using a makeup sponge and I also use distress stains. My blog post imeoranga.blogspot.com/

I used pastel cardstock for my double layout to go with a summer look.i chose three photos of me,my wards and several workmates at the beach which is near where we live.i used modelling paste for mixed media using DIY acetates from crafter friends. For the mixed media trees and bushes,I dabbed green acrylic paints. For The border sand,I mixed some modelling paste with brown acrylic and just spread it by dabbing with my fingers.i stamped the birds with black ink then added some Stickles.I actually smeared two of them so i covered them with cotton dabbed some ink to have white clouds instead! LOL! I stamped the flipflops, representing the subtitle "1000 steps from home"i couldn't resist adding the pink flamingos made from resin with glitters because they were so cute.I also used several die cuts- palm trees, hot air balloon, fliflops, leaves, umbrella and the sun,for the picket fence,i mixed some modelling paste and dark brown acrylic paint. For the tittle, i used the Endless Love Sizzix Sizzlits dies. This is the first time i ever joined a scrapbook challenge and it's quiet daunting given this an international challenge.Despite the tremendous pressure (because i know there are lot talented and seasoned scrappers in the challenge roster), doing this layouts featuring my beloved wards. They mean so much to me.I may not even advance to the next challenge but i am grateful for this opportunity. The important thing is,I didn't quit. I feel I live in Narnia for the last couple of months. I created a double page about a place I live but with all this snow and white I used some stronger colors. No mists , just acrylic paint. There was so much space on two pages I wanted to use several colors also to show how my favorite spot varies from time to time. I made a post on my blog about it, you are are welcome to visit me there too . I saw many lovely creations so far! Fantastic work girls! 100 steps on my blog

Here is my page for Challenge 1. I started by creating texture on my background, since the paper I used is very plain. I used gesso to adhere the gauze, did this to both pages. Then I brushed my fave at the moment, a glittery/shimmery watercolor I got in the bookstore..and yeah in the kiddies school section I love finding simple treasures like that! Continuing on the process, I used my heat tool to make the drying time faster. Then I tore apart strips of patterned paper and stapled in the middle of the background paper. It was pretty hilarious how I aligned them coz my scrap space is too small, I used our floor most of the time For the photos, I inked the edges with distress inks then with a black Stazon ink to really make it pop. Turned out my photos were too colorful and the papers I chose kind of clashed with them and the photos didn't stand out at first. Then I started to place the embellishments. I took this challenge as a great opportunity to use up my old stuff and just mixed few newer stuff (well at least for me they're new ). I did my journaling in the second page, I wrote down about this place/park that is just near where we're living at the moment. You can go to this park by walking, but we tend to use our car esp if we're carrying too many things for a picnic. I have more detailed shot but blogger is kinda wonky at the moment. Will just add the link here later if able. Thank you!
