Going into this competition with only 2 black and white photos. My choices were limited. I ended with the bridal shot, and I wanted to mimic the beautiful lace work of the bridal gown. I started with 2 white cardstocks, punched with border punches, and had to do it twice for both sides. I layered doilies and glued them down. I used white foam for the die cuts, but they were greyish in color, so I had to paint gesso over them to make them white. Next up trims, I gathered up laces, and trims and made sure that the packaging said Maya Road white sequins. I also added white butterflies and white paper flowers. I do is my title in white AC thickers. I also added resins from Prima, and also painted those white with gesso.

I used Bazzil white card stock with which I made the large rose and smaller rolled roses as well as the main circular doily using a Martha Steward circle punch. I also die cut the leaves, chair & lamp, embossed the paper, used bought white flowers, lace, braid and cake doilies. The title is white chipboard with clear glitter on it and the page photo was taken on the trampoline so you could see where it ended on the black mat. I punched the photo and re-used the hearts in the top left hand corner for interest below the leaves. Hello everyone! Here is my monochromatic layout for Challenge 2, the photo is of my two boys George and Harry <3 I chose Olive Green as my palette as it is one of my favourite colours to craft with and luckily I keep all of my scraps so was able to find quite a few patterned papers that fit the brief. All the patterned papers are tone on tone colours, there is no white or black! All the inking is either Shabby Shutters or Peeling Paint distress ink. The title is made using chipboard letters which were originally blue – I peeled the top layer off them exposing the raw chipboard and inked them with the lighter shade of green and highlighted the edges with the darker shade (in the photo they look a bit dull but they are green I promise!). The ‘stitching’ is a Hero Arts stamp, inked in the Peeling Paint ink. The felt embellishments have been loitering in my stash for ages, I think they are Fancy Pants and came with a kit I purchased about 6 years ago! The heart embellishments I made by inking some cardstock, hand-cutting the hearts out and then adding detail with Glossy Accents. I didn’t add any journaling as I couldn’t find a fine enough green pen so I will sneak some on in black pen after the competition . Thanks for looking and Good Luck everyone! x

Here is my take on the monochrome challenge. I had great fun using 50 shades of grey LOL. This is a pic of my hubby & I on our wedding day in 1993 !!
I used FabScraps Dreamy paper as the background which are grey on grey tones. I painted doilies and used them as a mask. I used pieces of Little Yellow Bicycle Swoon papers for my layering and also dry embossed on grey cardstock. Light grey texture paste was used and I used the following inks:
Mr Huey Silver Spray (some of the splats look black, but I assure you they are not) Dew Drop Brilliance Silver Dala Metal Craft Paint Silver
I added metal embellishments, buttons and net Prima flowers in grey which I just love.

Good luck everyone xx
